We are dealing with another economic crisis. The WTI contango. If true, it will threaten our national security. From the charts, it looks real. Congress tried addressing it.Senator Landrieu saw the US merchant fleet idled during a national crisis. She joined with Senator Murray in an attempt to create legislation mandating the use of US Flagged ships during a National Emergency.
Things have broken down that badly? Ports are a local issue. States do have some input and the voters can elect anyone they want. Come on, The Stregic Petroleum Reserve was open, that is a national emergency! Dummies in this country chose to use foreign flagged vessels. I do not like legislation. The idea that this is needed now is repugnant.
The long term solution must be economic, however, time has proved Senator Landrieu correct one more time. So I will endorse that bill. In the mean time, Wall Street will make a few extra billion, You and I will pay more at the pump, supertankers will fill our harbors because the computers caught an anomaly.

We are all better off when our President campaigns. He is easy to make fun of and he sharpens the issues. This election we will not have the benefit of a serious Democrat, with huge funds.
We have depended on the Republicans... We now have a Congressional Commission to deliver serious budget restraint. The August recess did not sharpen those issues keeping our economy on the ropes. Even Tea Partiers are asking their President to campaign. It may help some.
What it will do, Demonstrate to America he will not leave office if he does not get his four trillion in deficit reduction.

Addressing a Joint Secesson Of Congress, Our President will layout a new job vision. It looks to be a fairly comprehensive speach. I hope the President does not stick with his argument, He does not care if his deficit reducion position costs him his presidency.
I hope his speech does bring new light on the problem of the unemployed, bringing our economy back up to speed. He even wants to rebuild the middle class. That alone will bring back our economy, some. I wish he would lead the way in reducing the Corporate, Pesonal, Tax Rate.
Taxes need to be fair. Gimmics allowing one firm not to pay tax while another shoulders the burden -is unAmerican. Likewise, personal tax breaks for job creators, keep the tax rates high on everyone. Would a moderday Picasso, Walt Disney, or Zane Grey deserve a special tax break, No.
Forcing American firms to keep their investments overseas is just as bad. The current argumets, include gems, "They will just buy back their stock. Cause another collasp.'' Could be true in some firms, however, others will use the funds to invest in themselves. Many firms are run by competent managers.
